Propaganda of sexual minorities could promote HIV in Moscow - mayor

Moscow, December 4, Interfax - The Moscow City Hall have banned and will continue banning the propaganda of views of sexual minorities, as this could serve the goal of spreading HIV-infection in the city, Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov said on Thursday.

"So-called home-made democrats think that sexual minorities can be the main indicator to the main symbol of democracy, but we will continue banning the propaganda of views of sexual minorities," Luzhkov told the second international conference on HIV/AIDS in developed countries at the Moscow City Hall.

Such propaganda could be one of the factors promoting the spread of the HIV in the city, he said.

"Of course, all democrats of the world will criticize us for this, but each society has its own views on this," the mayor said.
