Moscow gays to organize 25 rallies and processions during the firs five days of May

Moscow, May 28, Interfax - Activists of sexual minorities have filed requests for meetings and processions with a combined attendance of about 130,000 people in Moscow at the beginning of May, a source in the Moscow city department for the coordination of security efforts told Interfax on Monday.

The source said leaders of the gay movement filed 25 notifications for holding 25 rallies and processions during the firs five days of May. The applicants claimed that 5,100 people would take part in each event. Thus they hope that 127,500 gays and lesbians would join "the gay express" at the beginning of May.

The source said it was highly unlikely that "the gay express" will arrive in Moscow and that the applications for the 25 meetings and processes would most likely be turned down.

Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov has declared on many occasions that he will not allow gay parades in the city.
