Moscow, October 18, Interfax - The Russian Interreligious Council will ask the Council of Europe to respect traditional religions' opinion of homosexual propaganda.
"The Council of Europe frequently discusses morality. Time has come to present our common idea of homosexuality to the Council. We must take part in the dialogue," head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Kirill said at the meeting of the Council presidium in Moscow on Thursday.
Resolution 11296 the Council of Europe adopted on June 8, 2007, to comment on blasphemy and insult of religious feelings, enables religions to take part in the dialogue. The resolution allows religions "to define various phenomena from their point of view and call homosexuality a sin, if a particular religion says so," he said.
The letter concerning homosexual propaganda will be the first statement by the Russian Interreligious Council in its cooperation with the Council of Europe.
