Russian gay parade organizer says is charged with slander

Moscow, August 2, Interfax - The chief organizer of a gay parade in Moscow said that he had been charged with slander.

Nikolay Alexeyev told Interfax that a detective had just notified him that he had been charged in response to a suit from State Duma deputy Alexander Chuyev.

Earlier, Chuyev, giving the reason behind his suit, said that Alexeyev had insulted him in a program on Russia's NTV television.

Interfax has not yet been able to obtain official confirmation that Alexeyev has been charged.
