Russian president formulates his position on possible gay parade in Moscow

Moscow, February 1, Interfax - Vladimir Putin, the president of the Russian Federation, at the instance of the journalists, gave his comments on the initiative of some sexual minorities to have a parade in Moscow in May 2007.

"My attitude toward gay parades and toward sexual minorities is simple and is determined by my duties of service, and its essence is that one of the major problems of this country is demographic," Putin said at a press conference in the Kremlin on Thursday.

"However, I respect, and will continue to respect human freedom in all of its forms," he said.
