Tyumen mayor’s office refuses to permit a gay-parade

Tyumen, August 15, Interfax - The Tyumen administration has refused to grant the request to hold a gay-parade in the city on September 5, referring to procedural violations.

As Interfax-Ural was told on Monday at the mayor’s office, the initiators of the event handed in their request earlier than 15 days before it. ‘As this is a violation, the request has been returned to the authors’, a mayor’s office worker said to the agency.

As was reported earlier, the participants in the parade planned to march in masques along the main thoroughfare of the city, Republic Street, to lay flowers at the Eternal Flame and to continue the feast on the Lovers Bridge.

The representative of the mayor’s office has clarified that the gay-parade was planned by a certain public organization called ‘SchizLONG’. The declared number of participants was up to 700 people.
