Christmas parliamentary meetings postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus situation

Moscow, January 21, Interfax - The 10th Christmas parliamentary meetings, which were expected to be held in the Federation Council on January 24, have been postponed, the Federation Council press service said on Friday.

"It has been decided to postpone the event until the epidemiological situation normalizes," the report said.

Christmas parliamentary meetings have been held in the Russian parliament for ten years now. The traditional speakers include Patriarch Kirill and leading parliamentarians. Legislative initiatives that later led to broad public debates have been voiced in these meetings more than once.
