Moscow, May 28, Interfax - The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) has written to the Disney Channel to explain Russian legislation after the release of an animated short film called Out, the Roskomnadzor press service said.
"Earlier, it emerged that Disney had released a short animated film called Out, in which the leading character has an untraditional sexual orientation. The letter notes that, by Russian law, the dissemination of information negating family values and propagating untraditional sexual relations among children is prohibited (Article 5 of the Federal Law 'On the protection of children from information which harms their health and development')," Roskomnadzor said.
"Propaganda of untraditional sexual relations among minors via the mass media is an administrative offense (Article 6.21 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses)," it said.
"Roskomnadzor has recommended that the television network's representatives strictly comply with the laws of the Russian Federation and prevent any dissemination of information which may harm children's health and development," it said.
