St. Petersburg/Moscow, March 16, Interfax - The Moscow Investigative Committee initiates a criminal case for murdering a local resident with a hammer, website of its agency in the Russian capital reports on Tuesday.
According to investigators, at night on March 16 near the apartment house on Dovzhenko Street, a 23-year-old native of St. Petersburg attacked the passerby, beat him with his legs and stroke him on the head with a hammer. The inflicted injuries became lethal for the man.
The suspected criminal is arrested, but he has not yet been charged.
A complex psychological and psychiatric examination will be appointed for checking the mental health of the suspect, the agency reports.
According to media reports, the resident of St. Petersburg attacked the Muscovite as he confessed he took this person for an evil force and wanted to deal with it.
