Moscow, November 23, Interfax - Moscow's Meshchansky District Court has fined Pussy Riot member Veronika Nikulshina 10,000 rubles for participation in an event against homophobia on October 7, lawyer Sergey Telnov said.
"The Meshchansky District Court [of Moscow] has fined Nikulshina 10,000 rubles for an event with rainbow-colored flags. She was found guilty of violating the procedures governing the organization of the event (under Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Russian Code of Administrative Violations)," Telnov told Interfax on Monday.
On October 7, Pussy Riot members held an event against homophobia and put rainbow-colored LGBT flags on the buildings of Moscow's public establishments.
Eight participants in the event were detained several days later. A protocol was made against Temuuzhin Sambuudavaagiyin (Tim Bestsvet) for a repeat violation of the rules governing the organization of public events.
Alexander Sofeyev, Alan Leongard, Elizaveta Diderikh, Vasily Andrianov, Maria Alyokhina, Veronika Nikulshina, and Maria Timofeyeva were also detained.
Sofeyev was arrested for 30 days. He was found guilty of a repeat violation of the rules governing the organization of public events.
