Putin offers condolences to president of Serbia on death of Patriarch Irinej

Moscow, November 20, Interfax - Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered his condolences to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the death of Serbian Patriarch Irinej.

In his condolence telegram, Putin called the patriarch's death "an irreparable loss" and asked to give words of sincere sympathy and support to the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church and all fraternal people of Serbia.

"The many years of the patriarch's work as a priest earned him deserved authority at home and abroad. It is hard to overestimate his efforts aimed at promoting high spiritual values and strengthening the unity of the Orthodox world," the Russian president said in his telegram.
