Moscow, November 19, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church does not have confirmation of the death of Serbian Patriarch Irinej, who has been receiving treatment for coronavirus in a Belgrade clinic for the past two weeks.

"Our sources in the Serbian Orthodox Church do not confirm the death of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej," Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, deputy head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations, told Interfax on Thursday, commenting on news of the patriarch's death published in Serbian media earlier.

The latest report on the website of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which was published today, states, citing information from doctors, including doctors from Russia, that the patriarch's condition deteriorated this morning. According to the report, doctors assess the patriarch's state of health as "complex, but stable."
