Yerevan, November 16, Interfax - Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan of the Diocese of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) of the Armenian Apostolic Church has been hospitalized after a heart attack, the Armenian media reported on Monday.
A decision on his further treatment in the United States is pending, according to the reports.
"Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack several days ago. The issue of his transportation to the United States, where he will be operated on, is being discussed," the report said.
The archbishop has been leading the Karabakh Diocese since the 1990s.
The official residence of the diocese is located in the Gandzasar Monastery in the Martakert district of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, but the administration of the diocese was located in Shushi, which went under the control of Azerbaijan during the hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone in early November.
