Putin calls for preserving churches in the transferred territories of Karabakh

Moscow, November 16, Interfax - Russian President Vladimir Putin's most recent phone contacts with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the practical aspects of the implementation of the agreements envisaged by the trilateral statement on Nagorno-Karabakh of November 9, the Kremlin press service said.

"In his conversation with Ilham Aliyev, Vladimir Putin, in particular, said that Christian churches and monasteries are located in the areas that are returned to the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the trilateral statement. In this regard, he spoke about the importance of preserving and ensuring the normal church life of these holy places," the press service said.

The president of Azerbaijan expressed understanding on that matter and said the Azerbaijani side will act in this exact key.
