Patriarch Kirill calls on Russian Armed Forces to 'keep their powder dry,' keep unbreakable spirit

Moscow, June 22, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill has issued a message and made wishes to the Russian Armed Forces and Russia's Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin on the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

"In order for our historical development to be progressive we need to keep our powder dry. The Armed Forces should always be at the height of their vocation, and, besides the necessary technical equipment, it is important that the spirit of our warriors should always stay unbreakable and strong so that the idea of the need to lay one's life for the Motherland is present in the mind and heart of every person who takes his oath," Patriarch Kirill said at the opening ceremony of the main military church of Russia in Kubinka, Moscow Region.

"Only such resolve, such courage and such loyalty to the country, multiplied by the technical capabilities and modern powerful weapons, will give security guarantees to our country for many years," he said.
