Level of public radicalization declining in Russia - FSB

Moscow, June 16, Interfax - The level of public radicalization has been on the decline in Russia, and more than 500 former terrorists have stopped their activity, Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov said.

"I should say that the preventive efforts taken by us on the national territory in collaboration with the relevant agencies and entities have significantly reduced the level of public radicalization; that's a fact," Bortnikov said at a working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"More than 500 persons have been persuaded to stop such activity," he said.

"This is individual work with persons who have either been indicted or have engaged in criminal, terrorist activity," Bortnikov said.
