Chairman of coordination center of North Caucasus Muslims hospitalized in Moscow

Cherkessk, May 22, Interfax - The chairman of the North Caucasus Muslim coordination center and mufti of Karachay-Cherkessia, Ismail Berdiyev, has been delivered from the republic to a Moscow clinic with suspected Covid-19.

"Overnight, Ismail-khadzhi was taken to the Pirogov institute. Currently, he is at an intensive care unit. We have no information yet about his condition. We all pray for his recovery, and the recovery of all people," the mufti's deputy Ibragim Katchiyev told Interfax on Friday.

Berdiyev told Interfax earlier that his first test for coronavirus returned positive but the second one was negative.

Katchiyev said that on Friday, May 22, imams at 130 mosques across the republic and residents of the region, while staying at home, at around noon performed a collective prayer for the health of Berdiyev and of all people who are currently ill.
