Novo-Oraryovo, May 21, Interfax - No mass events on the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr have been planned in Russia's Republic of Tatarstan, as all local Muslims will celebrate it at home this time, Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov said.
"We aren't planning any events. Today is the time when we have to keep every one of us safe, so everybody will celebrate all these holidays at home. I too will do it at home," Minnikhanov said during his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a video call.
Minnikhanov replied in the affirmative when Putin asked him whether Islamic clergy in Tatarstan upheld this stance.
