Kiev, April 17, Interfax - A total of 19 coronavirus cases have been detected in the Kiev Theological Academy and Seminar, the press service for the academy said on Facebook.
The samples were collected at the dormitories of the Kiev Theological Academy and Seminar on April 14, 2020, in accordance with an order of Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.
"The academy received a telephone call from the Kiev City Laboratory Center of the Ukrainian Health Ministry around 9 p.m. on April 16 informing that coronavirus was confirmed in 19 people, three lecturers and 16 students, following laboratory tests." the press service said.
The confirmation in a written form is expected on April 17. The results of the tests conducted on April 15 are yet unknown.
All students and lecturers, whose Covid-19 diagnosis was confirmed, are self-isolating under medical supervision at a dormitory in the academy.
Meanwhile, the Kiev city authorities have made a decision to declare quarantine in the territory of the Trinity Monastery of St. Jonas.
"I would like to announce that the city's commission for emergency situations has made a decision to impose quarantine in the entire territory of the Trinity Monastery of St. Jonas. Several cases of the decease were detected there earlier and teams of medical officers are working there now. Doctors are examining the clergy of the monastery," the Kiev mayor said at an online press conference on Friday.
Another seven coronavirus cases were recorded in the Kiev Lavra of the Caves, he said.
As reported, as of April 15, over 90 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the Kiev Lavra of the Caves, its territory was closed for quarantine, all buildings, as well as the premises of the theological academy and seminary, were thoroughly disinfected.
