Rectors of Moscow churches will help elderly parishioners to buy and deliver food to their homes

Moscow, March 17, Interfax - Churches of Moscow with the help of social workers will organize delivery of food and medications to elderly parishioners who risk to get infected with coronavirus in public places.

"Any parochial social worker (there are such people in many churches, especially in Moscow and other big cities) knows old people who regularly come to the church. Rectors of Moscow churches are ready to suggest them help in buying and delivering food and basic goods in order to avoid risks of infecting in shops, trade centers and markets," Russian Orthodox Church spokesman Vladimir Legoyda writes in his Telegram channel.

According to him, this is how the situation is seen in the Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate.

"I think that this idea will be realized in the nearest future. We hope that not only in Moscow", the church official said.

Legoyda stresses that everyone's duty today is to release our elderly relatives from possible risks.
