Moscow, February 27, Interfax - More Russians than last year intend to attend church services in advance of Lent, according to the findings of a poll seen by Interfax on Thursday.
The poll found that 26% Russians are prepared to attend Lenten services during the week of Maslenitsa (23% in 2019).
One-fifth are ready to abstain from meat and meat products (only 15% could do without meat last year).
According to 52% of respondents, Maslenitsa week, which started on February 24, is related to centuries-long cultural traditions, and 20% see it as the beginning of spring.
The nationwide poll was conducted among 1,600 Russians aged 18 and over on February 22, 2020.
