The court in Ukraine returns citizenship to the deported rector of the Desyatinny Monastery

Moscow, September 19, Interfax - The district administrative court of Kiev obliges the Migration Service to abolish the decision on depriving of citizenship the rector of the Desyatinny Monastery Bishop Gedeon (Kharon), theBabel reports as the text of judgement was conveyed to the edition.

As was earlier reported, in mid-February Bishop Gedeon was detained at the Kiev Airport when he was returning from the USA. The bishop was deported back as he allegedly had problems with his documents. Then official agencies stated that "he was involved in anti-Ukrainian propaganda and is active follower of the "Russian world", next day his Ukrainian passport was canceled.

The Moscow Patriarchate pointed out to the direct link of this incident with Bishop Gedeon's speech in US Congress, where he told about persecutions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
