High-ranking Culture Ministry official charged with misappropriating money provided for restoration of Solovki objects

Moscow, September 19, Interfax - Pavel Mosolov, director of the Culture Ministry's department on state protection of cultural heritage, is charged with misappropriating over 20 million budget funds provided for the restoration of cultural heritage objects.

"Investigators have charged Mosolov with five counts of grand theft involving abuse of office worth more than 20 million rubles. He denies his guilt," his lawyer Sergei Skryokhin told Interfax.

The money was provided from the budget in 2011-2016 for the restoration of some 70 objects of cultural heritage on the Solovki archipelago.
