Kiev, September 3, Interfax - Ukraine is looking forward to about 40,000 Hasidic pilgrims who will come to attend the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, the Ukrainian State Emergency Situation Service said.
"According to preliminary estimates, about 40,000 pilgrims from many countries will attend the festive events between September 23 and October 4, 2019. Pilgrims will travel most actively via Kiev, Odessa, and Vinnitsa. The city of Uman will tighten security for pilgrims," head of the State Emergency Situation Service Nikolay Chechetkin is quoted by the service's press service as saying following the meeting with the Israeli delegation led by Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Joel Lion.
The State Emergency Situations Service said that it will coordinate its actions with law enforcement agencies and local authorities.
Between September 23 and October 4, the Cherkassy garrison will be put on high alert, while a medical helicopter of the Emergencies Services will join the emergency medical aviation.
