Moscow, August 1, Interfax - The Vatican embassy to Russia has denied online reports alleging that Pope Francis will attend celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the victory in WWII in Moscow next year.
"The Apostolic Nunciature in the Russian Federation is unaware of such rumors," a source in the Nunciature secretariat told Interfax on Thursday.
Calls for being realistic about the possible Moscow visit of the Pope of Rome were made by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of the Russian Federation in July. "In reality, there are many obstacles in the inter-Christian dialogue, despite all the achievements we are witnessing," Conference Secretary General Rev. Igor Kowalevsky told the press at the time.
