Moscow, July 15, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church believes that personal contact between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents will resolve the existing issues, but the matter of Church can hardly be a subject for a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky.
"I believe the church split is really not an issue, which the presidents should discuss. The people of church should resolve the issues of church," Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, said on Rossiya-24 TV channel.
According to the metropolitan, the presidents should discuss such issues as Donbas, problems of Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine and many more that "accumulated and caused the current situation."
"I really hope the Russian and Ukrainian presidents will establish personal contact, which will help to correct the mistakes of the past," Metropolitan Hilarion said.
