Moscow, May 23, Interfax - A stabbing incident has occurred in the Holy Trinity - St. Sergius Lavra, head of the Lavra's press service Hieromonk Fyodor (Silitsky) told Interfax on Thursday.
"One of the monks, who was under the influence of alcohol, stabbed a fellow monk on Wednesday. The culprit has been detained and a criminal case has been opened," Hieromonk Fyodor said.
The injured monk is now in hospital, there is no threat to his life, he said.
A criminal case has been opened against the detained monk based on the article of the Criminal Code dealing with deliberate infliction of bodily injury, Tatyana Petrova, an official with the Moscow Region's police directorate, said.
The information on the incident was received from the hospital where the 61-year-old injured monk was hospitalized on May 22, Petrova said.
