Zelensky posts video of various religious leaders appealing to Donbass and Crimean people

Kiev, May 13, Interfax - A video clip, showing hierarchs from various religious denominations in Ukraine exhorting the people of Crimea and Donbass to show unity and reconciliation, was posted on the Facebook page of Ukrainian President-elect Vladimir Zelensky.

The new church of Ukraine's (OCU) leader Yepifaniy was not among the hierarchs but "the honorable patriarch" Filaret was, as were the Moscow Patriarchate's Ukrainian Orthodox Church leader Metropolitan Onufry, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church leader Svyatoslav Shevchuk, spiritual Muslim leaders, and representatives of Ukraine's Council of Rabbis.

When asked to comment on Yepifaniy's absence in the video, the president-elect's press secretary Olga Rudenko said that "everyone" including the OCU leader had been offered to participate in the video appeal.

Zelensky's team put the primate's absence down to his own decision.
