Sofia, March 5, Interfax - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has met with Patriarch of All Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia Neophyte.
The head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church received the Russian prime minister, who is currently in Bulgaria for a two-day official visit, at the headquarters of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
The patriarch greeted Medvedev at the entrance to the Holy Synod. They then proceeded to a reception hall, where they held a meeting.
Following the meeting, Medvedev and Patriarch Neophyte headed to the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
At the entrance to the cathedral, the Russian prime minister was offered several candles, but he did not take them, saying that he would like to buy some himself. Medvedev then bought candles from the cathedral's kiosk with several Bulgarian lev banknotes.
Representatives of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church showed Medvedev around the cathedral and told him about the main sacred objects held there.
