Ukrainian school students to learn creation of Orthodox Church of Ukraine, granting of tomos

Kiev, February 26, Interfax - The Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science has included the topic of establishing the new Ukrainian church (OCU) and granting the tomos on autocephaly in the 11th-year Ukrainian history course.

"The 11th year school students will learn the history of creating the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and granting the tomos on autocephaly already at the end of this academic year. The Ministry of Education and Science said in a letter, which contains information materials for teachers who will lecture this topic to senior school students," the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science said on Tuesday. They were sent to schools and educational departments.

This topic will be included in the history textbooks in the next academic year, because it is planned to print new textbooks for 11th year school students, it said.

Additionally, this topic will be put on the program of external independent evaluation of Ukrainian history, but school students will take tests on this topic as early as in 2021.
