Metropolitan Hilarion, Deputy Foreign Minister Karasin discuss Syria's humanitarian crisis, Christians' protection

Moscow, November 14, Interfax - The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Orthodox Church held a meeting of their joint working group, the ministry said.

"The attendees discussed various aspects of the cooperation between the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Orthodox Church since the working group's previous meeting, including joint efforts to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Syria and measures to protect the Christians in various parts of the world, and determined the core areas of cooperation in the near term," the ministry said in a statement.

The meeting was held on November 13 at the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations and was co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and the department's head, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, the statement said.
