Moscow, November 12, Interfax - Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message to the participants in the Russia - Islamic World meeting.
"Russia attaches great significance to the development of friendly relations with Muslim countries, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of contacts with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation," Putin said in the message, which has been published on the Kremlin's website.
"Our positions on numerous relevant items on the global and regional agenda are very close. We stand together for building a just democratic world order based on the rule of law and free from any forms of discrimination, forcible diktat, and economic and informational pressure," he said.
"Russia and the countries of the Islamic world have arranged constructive trade-economic, scientific-technical, and humanitarian cooperation and partner-like interaction in settling local conflicts and crisis situations," Putin said.
The group's present meeting is devoted to an important problem, measures to combat terrorist and extremist ideology, including through work with young people and the coordination of efforts in the field of education, Putin said.
"I am sure you will exchange useful practical experience and plan promising forms and areas of common activity," he said.
