Ukraine's border service comments on denial of entry to rector of Moscow Theological Academy

Kiev, November 8, Interfax - The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service has confirmed that Archbishop Amvrosy of Vereya (Yermakov), the rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, was denied entry to Ukraine at the Kiev airport.

"This information is true. This person could not be allowed to enter the territory of Ukraine because, first, he could not confirm the purpose of his visit, and also because the State Border Guard Service was fulfilling an order issued by a Ukrainian law enforcement agency to bar this person from entering the territory of Ukraine," Oleg Slobodian, an aide to the head of the State Border Guard Service, told Interfax.

The head of the Synodal Department for Church, Society and Media Relations Vladimir Legoyda said on November 7 that the rector of the Moscow Theological Academy had been denied entry to Ukraine.
