*** Recent statements of the Constantinople representative are similar to canonical surrealism, the UOC believes
Moscow, November 6, Interfax - The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate ironically reacted to the interview of the Constantinople representative that the UOC doesn't exist for many centuries because he canceled the decree on the transfer of the Kiev Metropolitanate to Moscow.
"The UOC is sure that Constantinople has not existed for 565 years. This is a historical fact. But it seems that Fanar (the district of Istanbul, where the residence of patriarch is located) hasn't been noticed this yet," Archpriest Nikolay Danilevich, deputy head of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, told Interfax.
"But the UOC exist. And this is also a historical fact. It's obvious. Therefore, such statements of individual representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople are similar to some canonical surrealism," he said.
Thus, the priest has commented on the words of the Constantinople representative to the World Council of Churches Archbishop Job (Getcha) that the recent Synod in Istanbul has actually liquidated the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
