Kiev, October 18, Interfax - St. Andrew's Church in Kiev will remain the property of the state and will stay on the balance of the Sophia of Kiev National Sanctuary Complex, the press service for the complex said.
A contract for the use of the church will be signed by a representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the press service said.
The restoration of St. Andrew's Church will be continued until its full completion, the press service said in an official statement on the use of the church by the Ecumenical Patriarchate published online on Thursday.
"St. Andrew's Church will reopen to visitors after the restoration is completed," the press service said.
The complex's museum workers will continue to work, observing legislative requirements on the protection of monuments, it said.
"The Sophia of Kiev National Sanctuary Complex has sufficient experience of cooperation with representatives of various churches to keep St. Andrew's Church in good condition," the press service said.
On Thursday, the Verkhovnaya Rada passed the first reading of a presidential bill on the use of St. Andrew's Church.
