Serbian president urges leaders of world religions to protect Orthodox churches in Kosovo

Astana, October 10, Interfax - Serbian President Alexandar Vucic has called on spiritual leaders to protect Orthodox monasteries and churches in Kosovo at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana.

"We appeal to all religious leaders to help us protect monasteries and the Orthodox Church in Kosovo, which are constantly exposed to attacks from those who do not believe in civilizational and cultural heritage," Vucic said.

Serbia is a democratic country "not only in terms of organization, but primarily in terms of its culture," he said.

"All religious communities, all religions are free to profess their religions and are equal. We respect religious and ethnic minorities in the country, they are our country's asset," Vucic said.
