No local Church supports Constantinople's steps toward granting Ukrainian Church autocephaly - Russian Church official

Astana, October 10, Interfax - There has not been a single statement from any local Church in support of the Constantinople Patriarchate's steps toward granting autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Hilarion, the head of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, said on Wednesday.

"There are various reactions. Some Churches have publicly spoken in favor of calling such an all-Orthodox meeting, some Churches have taken a pause. But I have not yet seen a single statement from a local Church in support of the unilateral actions that Constantinople has announced and that it is taking without the consent of local Orthodox Churches," Metropolitan Hilarion told reporters in Astana when asked about local Churches' reactions to events in Ukraine.
