Yerevan, October 8, Interfax - Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians has left for Paris to attend the ceremony to bid farewell to legendary singer Charles Aznavour.
A prayer service for the peace of the singer's soul has been conducted in Echmiadzin and the cathedrals of the Armenian Church dioceses on October 6, the day of Aznavour's funeral, the press chancellery of the Armenian Church said.
Charles Aznavour died of heart and respiratory insufficiency on Monday at the age of 94.
Charles Aznavour was a French singer, composer, writer and actor of Armenian origin. He was recognized as the best pop singer of the 20th century in 1998 following a poll done jointly by Time magazine and CNN television. He has recorded over 1,300 songs and starred in over 60 films.
