Moscow, July 30, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has appointed Grigory Antyufeyev acting general director of the art and production association Sofrino, the patriarch's press secretary priest Alexander Volkov told Interfax-Religion on Monday.
The Moscow Patriarchate announced on its official website on Sunday that the patriarch had relieved the previous general director, Yevgeny Parkhayev, who had led the enterprise since 1987, from all the posts he occupied in church organizations.
Sofrino produces clerical clothing, icons, jewelry, and churchware.
Antyufeyev, 59, is a retired captain first rank, a full state counselor first class of Moscow, a professor, a doctor of economic sciences, and a candidate of technical sciences. He is an honorary professor at the Moscow Senkevich State Institute of Tourism Industry, an author of four monographs and about 100 other treatises, and one of the creators of automated operational control systems for the Russian Armed Forces.
Before 1991, Antyufeyev served as a career military officer at the central headquarters of the Soviet Armed Forces. From 1991 to 2010, he served in high administrative positions in the Moscow city administration, including as the deputy head of the city property management committee, the chairman of the Moscow Property Fund, and the head of the city's Tourism Committee.
In later years, he headed a department at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, was an advisor to the Russian culture minister, and led the Russian Military Historical Society's commission on museum and exhibition and archive and library activities.
Antyufeyev was involved in the reconstruction of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the implementation of other major projects in Moscow, including the construction, reconstruction, and restoration of the Moscow Senkevich State Institute of Tourism Industry and the estates of Vorontsovo, Ostankino, Kuzminki, and Kuskovo.
