Request for gay parade submitted to Moscow mayor’s office

Moscow, May 15, Interfax - The organizers of a gay parade in Moscow have submitted on Monday an official request for it to the mayor’s office, Nikolay Alekseyev, director of the GayRussia.ru project, has reported at a press conference.

He stressed that the request ‘does not at all refer to a gay parade because it is a human rights event in defense of the rights and freedoms of homosexually-oriented people in Russia, planned to coincide with the 13th anniversary of the abolishment of criminal prosecution for homosexuality in 1993’.

The secretary of the Russian Radicals movement, Nikolay Khramov, has reported to journalists in his turn that his movement supports holding a gay parade of sexual minorities in the capital.
