Moscow, October 30, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia regrets that residents of Western Europe step away from Christianity as they choose personal pleasures at the background of the decay of Christianity in Europe.
"Residents of the Western Europe managed to defend their faith, when atheists tried to take it from us by force. Today many people voluntarily prefer complex of consumer pleasures to faith. Consumption does not require moral efforts, but when it is combined with oblivion of God, it limits life to consequent and unconditional love to yourself," the patriarch said in his interview with Romanian Q Magazine.
He told that leaders of Orthodox Churches met this Friday in Romania to recall the times of persecutions against faith and to witness "to dangers of life without God."
"The choice of "life without God" is destructive for a person and for the society no matter if it imposed from outside or is chosen freely," the head of the Russian Church believes.
