Moscow, October 11, Interfax - Actions of the United States of America against Russian TV channel Russia Today can be considered undemocratic, head of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk said.
"I know people from various countries who told me that they were watching this channel. If American authorities decide to close the channel in the United States, it will remind actions of the Soviet Union against the Voice of America," he said on the Church and the World program on Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.
According to him, "no one could have recently expect such actions from the so-called democratic America, which claims to struggle for the freedom of speech."
Earlier, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan on air NTV said that her channel can stop broadcasting in America because of the American authorities' pressure.
