Xiamen, September 5, Interfax - Russian President Vladimir Putin has opposed any sort of violence in Myanmar and said that all Russian citizens, including regional leaders, are entitled to an opinion on this subject.
"We are against any sort of violence and are urging the administration of that country to take control of the situation. As to the opinion of Russian citizens on the foreign policy of the Russian state, every person is entitled to an opinion irrespective of one's office," Putin told a press conference on Tuesday, after the BRICS summit in Xiamen.
"The same principle fully applies to regional heads," Putin said.
"I can assure you there is no oppositional attitude on behalf of the Chechen administration. I ask everyone to calm down. Everything is okay," he said.
