Lvov authorities demand to investigate an attack against synagogue as unidentified criminals threw 'Molotov cocktails' to it

Lvov, July 4, Interfax - The Lvov city council condemned an attack against synagogue as an unknown criminal threw a bottle with explosives to it at night of July 30.

"The guilty should bear responsibility. We turn to law enforcement agencies with a request to investigate these events as soon as possible. Lvov has always been and will be a tolerant city," press service cited deputy mayor Andrey Moskalenko as saying.

According to the guard, who was questioned by the police, the bottle hit the wall and exploded, but the fire was not extensive and soon died out. The guard said that the incident took place about 4 a.m.

The investigative group examined the site and took pieces of the bottle to expertise. A criminal case on a crime envisaged by Article 296 Part 1 (hooliganism) of the Ukrainian criminal code was initiated.

It was earlier reported that at night on July 21 unidentified criminals painted a wall at the Synagogue Square in Lvov. Then city head Andrey Sadovoy asked the police to find criminals as quickly as possible.
