Ukrainian army, militia continue to exchange fire despite Easter truce agreement

Donetsk/Kiev, April 14, Interfax - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has seen 58 attacks of the Ukrainian army in the past 24 hours.

"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 58 times over the past day. In all, the Ukrainian army attacked 19 populated localities in the republic, using artillery, tanks, mortars, infantry combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers, and small arms," a DPR Defense Ministry spokesman told reporters on Friday.

The conflicting sides agreed in Minsk on Wednesday to put an Easter ceasefire into place at 10 a.m. on April 13, yet truce breaches were observed on Thursday.

For its part, Kyiv reported 65 attacks on Ukrainian army positions over the past day and the injury of two Ukrainian soldiers.
