Moscow, February 10, Interfax - Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia who is treated in Germany will be operated on February 13 on gallbladder.
"According to the information from Germany, the patriarch's clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination was finished. Basing on the collected data, the necessity of surgical intervention was confirmed," press service of the Georgian Patriarchate reported.
According to earlier reports, the flu caused inflammation in the patriarch's gall bladder in early January and a need for surgery could have arisen. Georgian doctors offered to take Ilia II to Germany for treatment, but he refused.
On February 2, doctors insisted on treatment in Germany. According to his doctor, such decision was taken after examination that showed aggravation of the illness.
