Seventeen people injured amid gay parade in Tbilisi

Tbilisi, May 17, Interfax - Seventeen people were injured amid incidents related to clashes between gay parade participants and their opponents in Tbilisi on Friday.

Three out of 17 injured people were police officers, head of the Georgian Interior Ministry's PR Department Nino Giorgobiani told reporters.

Giorgobiani said that the Interior Ministry urged citizens, who gathered in Tbilisi to protest against the gay parade, to leave and keep order.

According to reports of Georgian mass media outlets, police managed to bring gay parade organizers and participants to a safe place outside of Tbilisi.
