St. Petersburg, May 18, Interfax - St. Petersburg police have opened a criminal investigation into an incident involving the shooting of a non-lethal weapon at a gay rally in the city's Petrogradsky District, a law enforcement source told Interfax on Friday.
Taking part in the rally, which took place near the Petrovsky Pond on Thursday evening, were about 80 people, he said.
"No serious offences were committed during the event. Only one man, born in 1986, was detained for firing twice an Udar gas gun," he said.
The shots injured two men aged 23 and 27. Both were hospitalized, but their lives are out of danger.
"The criminal case has been opened under Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code dealing with disorderly conduct," he said.
