04 July 2022, 20:44Russian Church receives the first state certificate of registration in Africa
Moscow, July 4, Interfax - The Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa has received the first certificate of registration on the continent, the patriarchal exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, said.
"From now on, the Russian Orthodox Church in the Central African Republic (Moscow Patriarchate. Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa)," he wrote on his Telegram channel on Monday.
The metropolitan called this event a historical moment and attached a photocopy of the mentioned document.
The Patriarchal Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa was created by the Synod in Moscow in late December 2021 at the numerous requests of African priests who did not agree with the fact that the head of the Patriarchate of Alexandria operating on the continent recognized the non-canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine. At the time of its formation, 102 priests from eight African countries joined the exarchate, today there are more than 180 of them. |
