17 May 2022, 16:22Patrushev blames the West of striving to achieve spiritual and moral degradation of Russia
Moscow, May 17, Interfax - The West seeks to undermine the Russian economy and to establish a regime under its control by means of sanctions, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said.
"The goal of the ongoing actions of the collective West is obvious: to bar Russia from communication with the rest of the world, including in the fields of science and modern high technologies, by means of sanctions, to undermine the Russian economy, to slow down the development of our country, and to create conditions for moral and cultural degradation of the population," Patrushev said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council's Academic Board on Tuesday.
"In the end, the West seeks to create conditions for establishing a regime under Western control in Russia, which has been done in Ukraine and a number of other states," he said.
The anti-Russian campaign unleashed by the United States and other Western countries indicates that "Ukraine has served as a pretext of the undeclared war on Russia. Plans to wage this war were being hatched long before February 2022 and would have been put into life irrespective of the actions of the Russian Federation," Patrushev said. |
